PALART FESTIVAL
Palestine on Stage - Roots, Freedom, Future
Pleasance Theatre, London
23rd September - 3rd October 2026
PalArt Collective returns for the fifth edition of PalArt Festival, presenting its most ambitious season yet: eleven days of Palestinian theatre, comedy and music celebrating resilience, creativity and an unbreakable cultural spirit.
Bringing together voices from across Palestine and the diaspora, the programme presents a tapestry of sharp-edged humour, vivid storytelling, bold visions of the future and contemporary music.
The festival brings together seven productions spanning the breadth of Palestinian experience
The Shroud Maker, written by Ahmed Masoud a darkly comic one-woman show about a shroud maker in Gaza;
Return to Palestine, an ensemble piece devised in The Freedom Theatre in Jenin Refugee Camp, tracing a diaspora Palestinian’s first journey home;
El Manshiyyeh, a minimalist meditation on memory from El-Hakawati (Palestinian National Theatre);
2077: Who Wants to Survive, a dystopian thriller from Ramallah’s Ashtar Theatre, created with Bridgeworks Theatre in Germany;
Screw, a Farce, by Sami Abu Wardeh a physical comedy set in a black-site interrogation room;
Two Names, Meet and Part, a coming-of-age story about identity and activism in America; and
Hanna Shammas Takes it to Heart, a warm stand-up storytelling show from Haifa.
“I am very pleased to see the biggest gathering of Palestinian theatre and artists. Where our spaces have been shrinking, the stage opens a world for us to raise our voices and tell our story. This year’s festival goes from history to the future with lyrical elegance.”
Ahmed Masoud, founder of PalArt Collective
Beyond the stage, the festival will host live music nights, talks exploring futurism in Palestinian theatre and poetry in Palestine, and hands-on workshops. A networking evening will also take place in London in July, connecting Palestinian artists with industry professionals.
